India and the International Solar Alliance (ISA) discussed sustainable renewable energy initiatives with Denmark with the hope of attracting global funding and technological collaboration between the two nations.

Indian Ambassador to Denmark, Manish Prabhat, and ISA Director General Ajay Mathur, DG-elect Rakesh Khanna, met in Copenhagen to explore ways to advance ISA's renewable energy goals. "Indian Ambassador to Denmark, Manish Prabhat, DG Mathur, and DG-elect Khanna discussed ISA's Sustainable Renewable Energy initiatives attracting global funding and technology, including from India and Denmark", the Indian Embassy in Copenhagen posted on X.

Denmark was the first country to ratify the International Solar Alliance Framework Agreement in 2021. Both nations have worked closely under the ISA as well as during India's presidency of the G20, with Denmark participating in the climate and environment transmission working groups as part of the Green Strategic Partnership.

The International Solar Alliance, in collaboration with India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the Asian Development Bank, and the International Solar Energy Society, recently organized the third edition of the High-Level Conference on New Technologies for Clean Energy Transition in November 2024.

During the event, ISA and Denmark published a Readiness Assessment of Green Hydrogen in African Countries report on green hydrogen potential: Egypt, Morocco, and Namibia. Here, Emil S. Lauritsen, the Head of Strategic Sector Cooperation in the Danish Embassy in New Delhi, stressed his country's promise to assist the ISA in technical matters regarding the policy, regulations, and green hydrogen financing areas.

Under a memorandum of understanding with ISA, three years of technical support from Denmark's Ministry of Foreign Affairs will focus on green hydrogen economies in African nations. The collaboration shows an increasing partnership between India and Denmark to initiate global renewable energy initiatives.
